8 Corner Pantry Ideas That Will Make Your Kitchen More Efficient

The storage experts at Shelf Genie® have some excellent pantry organization ideas to share with you. We’ll also explain how corner pantry cabinets can help maximize all the space you have in your kitchen and pantry.

1. Use a Lazy Susan

Our first corner pantry idea for a small kitchen is to utilize a Lazy Susan, also called a turntable. This multilevel, rotating platform comes in a round, kidney-shaped, or D-shaped design. A Lazy Susan can add easy-to-access storage to previously hard-to-reach spaces. They work particularly well with corner cabinets. Shelf Genie’s Glide-Around solution combines a Lazy Susan and corner cabinet drawers that rotate 360 degrees. The drawers in the middle fully extend to provide easy access to everything you need. This is an excellent way to create an organized small pantry, and keep everything within reach.

2. Install Glide-Out Shelves

ShelfGenie’s Glide-Out shelves help increase storage by up to 50 percent and put all the items in your cabinet at your fingertips. With Glide-Out shelving in corner kitchen cabinets, you won't be fumbling around for those hard-to-reach items stored in the back of the cabinet.

3. Add a Second Tier of Shelves

A two-tiered shelving system in your corner pantry is a great way to double your storage space for things like cutlery, spatulas, and spoons. The top tray slides back to reveal a lower tier, providing convenient space for all your cutlery, even in a small kitchen with just a few drawers.

4. Use Baskets and Bins

Although often underrated and underutilized, baskets and bins are ideal for storing bulky items that clutter your corner cabinet, such as pasta noodles, onions, and potatoes. Storage bins and baskets can be arranged by category and to help keep everything well-organized.

5. Install a Wall-Mounted Spice Rack

Variety is the spice of life, and while cooking with different spices will certainly add flavor to just about any dish, keeping them organized and within easy reach is often a challenge. Wall-mounted spice racks display your spices and keep them front and center when cooking those flavorful meals. Shelf Genie offers custom spice racks to accommodate your spicy cooking habits.

6. Use the Door for Storage

Depending on the size of your kitchen and pantry, using all the available space may be more of a necessity than a nice to have. Installing hooks or a rack on the inside of your cabinet door to store lids, measuring spoons, aluminum foil, plastic wrap, sponges, and more. This is a great way to maximize space. Attach a wire or mesh pocket organizer to store small items like spice jars or kitchen tools. Cabinet doors are also great for hanging cutting boards and oven mitts.

7. Add a Small Appliance Garage

Frustrated by the number of appliances taking up valuable counter space? An appliance garage will keep blenders, toasters, coffee makers, mixers, and other appliances hidden so they don't clutter your counter when they're not being used. These cabinets can be designed with a sliding or roll-up door for easy access. Some appliance garages may also include built-in electrical outlets so you can use the appliances without moving them out of the garage.

8. Create a Baking Station

If you love to bake, a baking station may be just what you need to take your baking to the next level. This designated area in your kitchen is specifically designed for baking activities. Depending on how you design your baking station, it can feature drawers and storage compartments specifically for baking supplies, which makes your baking experience more enjoyable and efficient by providing easy access to all the necessary tools and ingredients.
